Puppy, don't eat cherries

 Puppy, don't eat cherries

Cherry is in season from June to July, and is one of the fruits loved by modern people. When I see a puppy sitting in front of me with a bright smile when I eat cherries, I would want to give one away. However, it is better not to give cherries.

Cherry seeds, roots, and leaves contain cyanide, a toxic substance for dogs. Also, dogs are less capable of digesting cherry seeds as well as the fruit itself. Therefore, you may suffer from gastrointestinal disorders after eating cherries.

fruit that can be fed instead of cherries

Cherry is a fruit that contains nutrients such as vitamins A, C, fiber, antioxidants, and melatonin. But there's no need to be sad. There are enough fruits that dogs can eat with similar nutrients. Fruits to replace cherries include de-seed apples and blueberries. However, if consumed in large amounts, it can cause gastrointestinal disorders or diabetes/obesity due to sugar, so this should also be given only on a limited basis.

What if you fed your dog cherries without knowing?

Did you feed a dog 1 or 2 cherries without knowing? It is unlikely that one or two cherries will cause poisoning. However, swallowing seeds can cause intestinal obstruction. In this case, let's feed them as usual and check if the cherry's seeds come out as feces. On the other hand, if a dog cannot eat and shows symptoms of vomiting and abdominal pain, intestinal obstruction should be suspected. Intestinal obstruction can lead to death if the foreign substance that is the cause is not removed, so removal surgery should be performed as soon as possible. If a dog eats a large amount of cherries, the following symptoms of addiction can occur. Therefore, if any abnormal symptoms appear, you should visit the hospital immediately.

hyperventilation
shortness of breath
convulsions
an attack
Trembling
faint
A heart attack.
